  1. 1. How long did you BF? – Luke one year and Andy is still nursing at 16 mos.

    2. Did you supplement formula? – I tried formula a couple times at night to see if it would get the boys to sleep through the night. Didn’t work. So didn’t use formula again. I pumped (when I worked) with Luke so he had breastmilk when I wasn’t around. I’m home now so Andy has breastmilk all the time.

    3. If you solely BF, at what point did you start formula (if at all?) – started whole milk with both at 1 year but switched to Almond milk because of a lactose intolerance. Andy takes a sippy every now and again through the day but typically would rather have the boob.

    4. Did your baby bite? At what age? – no for Luke. Yes for Andy – around 9 mos.

    5. How did you stop them? – Pulled him off, told him no and put the boob away til next feeding.

    6. Did the biting cause you to switch to formula? – no

    7. Did your baby sleep better when given formula? – no.

  2. 1. 1 year
    2. No formula, exclusively breastfed.
    3. Did not do formula. Started cow’s milk after a year.
4 and 5. Molly bit me once. I was so startled and said “ouch” so I think it scared her. I think she actually cried a little about it too. πŸ™‚
    6. No
    7. Didn’t do formula.

  3. 1. How long did you BF? 6 months with Maryn, 8 weeks with Kohen (but I had issues)

    2. Did you supplement formula? Yes. My husband gave the baby a formula bottle around 11 pm so I could get a longer stretch of sleep.

    3. If you solely BF, at what point did you start formula (if at all?) I started formula supplementing from the beginning.

    4. Did your baby bite? At what age? I was lucky and never bitten, but I mostly pumped and fed the kids bottles by the time I went back to work at 8 weeks.

    5. How did you stop them?

    6. Did the biting cause you to switch to formula?

    7. Did your baby sleep better when given formula? YES! It also helped because I found out Maryn had a lactose intolerance that wasn’t detected until we switched to formula.

    Good luck!

  4. 1. How long did you BF? with Tucker: about 8 months, with Emery: she’s 11 months and still going strong

    2. Did you supplement formula? with Tucker: started supplementing at about 7 months and totally switched by about 8 months. I got pregnant with Emery when Tucker was 6.5 months old and lost my supply.

    3. If you solely BF, at what point did you start formula (if at all?) With Emery: at about 10 months started giving 4-6oz of formula in a sippy at dinner time. She has never taken a bottle/sippy and I was worried she never would!

    4. Did your baby bite? At what age? Tucker didn’t have teeth till he was 12 months and wasn’t nursing then. Emery still doesn’t have teeth, but they’re coming soon so we’ll see!

    5. How did you stop them?

    6. Did the biting cause you to switch to formula?

    7. Did your baby sleep better when given formula? I’m no help here. Tucker never had issues with sleep and Emery’s never had formula at bedtime. She likes the comfort of nursing to sleep, though.

  5. 1. How long did you BF? with Harrison, 4.5 mos. Still bf Eloise (she turned 9 mos last week)

    2. Did you supplement formula? I supplemented formula with Eloise after she turned 4 mos. Harrison had it the entire time in addition to the time I was able to bf him.

    3. If you solely BF, at what point did you start formula (if at all?)

    4. Did your baby bite? At what age? Eloise did start biting me once her teeth came in (6 mos) and I’ve just pulled her off and told her no & if she kept doing it I just stopped all together. If she was biting then she must not of been interested in my milk as she was just interested in playing with my nipple.

    5. How did you stop them? See above. I also read how you can flick them in the mouth (gently of course) but I haven’t done that yet. She’s getting the point I think.

    6. Did the biting cause you to switch to formula? If she wasn’t going to stop no matter what and just kept doing it then yes I prob would of and if it does happen, prob will. She’s never taken to the bottle so when she does get formula (very rare occurance) then she gets it from the sippy cup.

    7. Did your baby sleep better when given formula? I know Harrison slept like a rock star and still does. Eloise hasn’t been the best sleeper for me. She’s 9 mos old & still gets up once a night. But, the last 2 nights she’s actually slept all night so you just never know.

Good luck & I’m sure you’ll figure out what’s best for you both.

  6. 1. How long did you BF? – Still going and we are coming up on 3 months.

    2. Did you supplement formula? – Haven’t yet

    3. If you solely BF, at what point did you start formula (if at all?) – See above

    4. Did your baby bite? At what age? – Emmett is starting to show signs of teething, but to this point, I haven’t had to deal with this. Thanks for the research for me πŸ˜‰

    5. How did you stop them? – My sister said she yelped so loud it scared Stella and she never did it again, so I will probably try that route.

    6. Did the biting cause you to switch to formula? – n/a

    7. Did your baby sleep better when given formula? – He isn’t having any problems sleeping through the night now, so we will see what happens when teething starts….

  7. 1. How long did you BF? Between 5-7 months on #’s 1,2 & 3, still bf’ing #4. Various reasons for stopping. A cold shut down my milk supply on one side with Tucker, Noah seemed to spit up excessively and soy formula worked for her, and my milk really slowed down after 7 mos with Nell.

    2. Did you supplement formula? No

    3. If you solely BF, at what point did you start formula (if at all?) Only when stopped nursing

    4. Did your baby bite? At what age? No. However, my 4 mos old sure gave a lingering tug the other day. Wasn’t sure what to do – she seems awfully little to discipline.

    5. How did you stop them?

    6. Did the biting cause you to switch to formula?

    7. Did your baby sleep better when given formula? no

  8. 1. How long did you BF?
    Baby #1 – 12 months
Baby #2 – 4 months going strong, hoping to make it to 12 months

    2. Did you supplement formula?
Baby #1 – Only in the hospital post-C-section twice, and then gradually as weaning occurred starting at 9 months since my production tanked
Baby #2 – A few times in the hospital post-C-Section

    3. If you solely BF, at what point did you start formula (if at all?)
Baby #1 – At 9 months – mixed it with breastmilk so it wouldn’t throw baby off too much
    Baby #2 – N/A (yet)

    4. Did your baby bite? At what age?
Baby #1 – Yes, only once or twice – around 9 months
    Baby #2 – N/A (yet)

    5. How did you stop them?
Baby #1 – Yelped VERY LOUD and took the boob away

    6. Did the biting cause you to switch to formula?
Baby #1 – No, think it happened when she was teething and we had already started to supplement with formula anyway…

    7. Did your baby sleep better when given formula?
Baby #1 – Not really. The feedings we kept longest were the nighttime ones and she was always a pretty good sleeper regardless.
Baby #2 – He hasn’t been given formula yet, but we have noticed that if we give him a large bottle of pumped breastmilk before bed, he’ll sleep a nice, long stretch for us (or even all night a few times), so it makes me think that how well babies sleep is related more to the amount they drink rather than what it is they drink (breastmilk v. formula). When we give a bottle of breastmilk to him, we are determined to make sure it gets finished and not wasted (liquid gold, people!!).

  9. 1. How long did you BF?- 1 year

    2. Did you supplement formula?- No

    3. If you solely BF, at what point did you start formula (if at all?)- Never did formula

    4. Did your baby bite? At what age? Yes- around 5-6 months and had a few problems again with it again around 8 or 9 months.

    5. How did you stop them? Sternly told “No” and stopped nursing- took a break. Once when it was a bad one I stopped nursing for a few feedings and bottlefed her BM.

    6. Did the biting cause you to switch to formula? No.

    7. Did your baby sleep better when given formula? N/A- never got formula.

    Good luck!

  10. 1. How long did you BF? – One year for both girls…started weaning them off right around their 1st birthdays

    2. Did you supplement formula? – I did just a little bit with Maddyx. I was able to come home during my lunch hour and nurse her, but towards the end, I did supplement a couple times a week, maybe. With Jacklyn, my plan period at school was first thing, so I had just nursed her and didn’t have a whole lot to pump. Then, I couldnt’ pump again until lunch time and then had 15 minutes. So, I had to supplement after I ran through my supply that I had built up in the freezer. At about 6 months or so I had to supplement 1 or 2 bottles a day when she was at the sitters.

    3. If you solely BF, at what point did you start formula (if at all?) – See above. We started whole milk at 1 year.

    4. Did your baby bite? At what age? –They both bit me once. I yelped yelped really loud (didn’t mean to, it just shocked me) and they never did it again. Now, Jax would “play” with my nipple w/her teeth and I would kind of (VERY gently) swat her mouth (she was older at this time). Then she’d smile at me and go back to nursing. After she did this for a few days, I decided that she was done eating and that’s why she was playing. So, once she started nibbling (lol), we would be done.

    5. How did you stop them? – see above

    6. Did the biting cause you to switch to formula? – no

    7. Did your baby sleep better when given formula? – the only time they slept better was when I started mixing breast milk w/cereal and fruit right before bed time. I’d give the girls just a small helping of it and then about 30 minutes later nurse them to sleep. This really helped w/Maddyx b/c she was such a big girl. We started that at about 4 months because she was getting up every two hours to eat and it would take almost an hour to feed her and get her back to sleep. But, with Jacklyn we were able to wait until she was about 6 months or so.

  11. Thanks Ladies…as you may have guessed I got bitten pretty badly. It was just once, but it drew blood and hurt so badly afterwards I couldn’t put a bra on for a day or two. He doesn’t do it much anymore and when he does I know he’s done eating. I firmly correct him and he just laughs at me….I’m so tired of boys laughing at the expense of my boobs! πŸ™‚
